As leaders from around the world trickle into Copenhagen for the United Nations Climate Conference, a team of environmental artists led by Mark Coreth is sharpening their chisels in the WWF Arctic Tent, Centre Square. Within hours of the conference opening they will skillfully transform a vast block of ice into a monumental Ice Bear. However, this is no ordinary sculpture. Over the course of COP15 the public are invited to interact with the bear, every handprint abetting a melting process, which will leave behind a pool of water and a striking message to the world.

The team behind the interactive bear believes that it will stand, and disintegrates 'as a reminder that humans have the power to affect the delicate balance of nature.'

Watch the Copenhagen bear streamed live on Telegraph.co.uk and NewScientist.com , in conjunction with Inlet Technologies whose advanced encoding platform will deliver the action as it unfolds.

'We are delighted to be supporting the United Nations Climate Conference with our Spinnaker encoders' said Don Bossi, Chairman & CEO for Inlet Technologies, 'and are very pleased with the successful outcome of this collaboration with Videojuicer, through our UK partner Garland Partners Limited (GPL).

'Online video provides the ideal medium for raising awareness about climate change on a global basis.' says Steve Jelley, CEO Videojuicer, 'We are donating our video platform to broadcast a continuous stream that can be embedded on any blog in the world. After the event video clips will be syndicated web-wide through Videojuicer's player - to ensure that this powerful and timely message never melts into the ether.'

Copenhagen precedes the 'Bear in the Square', which makes another doomed appearance in Trafalgar Square, London next week.
