etv media group and Videojuicer launch new video service iAndBuy

Digital media companies Videojuicer and etv media group have joined forces to provide a complete managed video solution for retailers. The new solution, called iAndBuy , enables retailers to take control of their online video, convert viewers to purchasers and, crucially, maintains the e-commerce links when the video is syndicated to third party sites. This means that widely syndicated video can now not only add significant viewers, it can add significant revenue too. Syndication partners can share in the revenue delivered by their sites and we believe this will encourage widespread uptake of the videos.

First ever Demos Annual Lecture with Amartya Sen

Demos, a London-based think tank, held their first ever Annual Lecture on the 15th March where Amartya Sen – Nobel Prize winning economist -delivered the keynote address. Professor Sen developed the ideas in his 2009 book ‘The Idea of Justice’, exploring the themes of power, justice and capabilities and their application in a contemporary political landscape.

The ideas were further discussed by a panel consisting of Ed Miliband MP, Baroness Shirley Williams and Aryeh Neier – US human rights champion and President of the Open Society Institute. The event was chaired by Richard Reeves, director of Demos.

The sold out event was held in Kings Place and webcasted on the Demos site and syndicated to sites such as The Guardian, Streaming Museum and Rediff.com, using Videojuicer’s platform. Digital Mission to SxSWi

We’ve just sent our very own Ted Han packing… to South by Southwest Interactive, that is. Videojuicer was one of 35 top British digital companies selected by Chinwag and the UKTI to attend the annual conference. Ted will be among “the world’s most creative web developers, designers, bloggers, wireless innovators, content producers, programmers, widget inventors and new media entrepreneurs” and he’ll be our eyes and ears on the ground at Austin, Texas.

Burberry closes London Fashion Week in style

Once again Burberry delighted fans by streaming the AW10 Womenswear collection to viewers all over the globe using the Videojuicer platform.

Fashionistas marvelled at Christopher Bailey’s new creations from the comfort of their own home and in another first, lucky viewers in Tokyo, Dubai, New York, L.A., and Paris were able to see the show in 3D!

The blog’s been a bit quiet since the new year but that certainly doesn’t mean we haven’t been up to much. Quite the contrary, you might have seen us streaming Burberry’s Prorsum Autumn/Winter 2010 Menswear show in Milan. If you missed it, you can still check out the upcoming collection. Videojuicer and the Ice Bear

The Copenhagen Ice Bear, Melting, melting…

Sad but true, the newest Ice Bear will be meeting its demise. Our own producer Matt Jolly has left England to witness this tragic event for himself, but more importantly, he’s setting things up so you can watch it too.

If you’re not aware, the bear is a life-sized ice sculpture of the hunting Arctic polar variety. Over a number of days it will melt, leaving a bronze skeleton, a pool of water and (hopefully) a powerful environmental message. Anyone at the centre of Copenhagen’s Nytorv (New Square) will be able to reach out and touch the Ice Bear, themselves becoming a sculptor – “symbolic of how we all have the power to affect our delicate environment”.

You can watch this real-time sculpting and melting and sculpting. It will be streaming live, 5th – 17th December, at Telegraph.co.uk and NewScientist.com where you can join the WWF International’s Big Tent & Arctic Exhibition (and maybe catch a glimpse of a UN Climate Change Conference delegate).

Choose a doc at Doc/Fest On-Demand

This week Videojuicer launched the on-demand film site for
joiningthedocs.tv and Sheffield Doc/Fest, the international documentary film festival. The industry conference attracts the leading names of documentary makers and executives in British television.

At Doc/Fest On-Demand there are more than 1500 delegates of documentary and factual producers, directors, buyers, commissioners and distributors registered to view 30+ full-length films. The trailers of these can be viewed by anyone – Pink Taxi, Sons of Cuba, Yodok Stories, Bastardy, Antoine, Taqwacore anyone?

Digital Mission! Videojuicer scores a trip to LA and SF

This week we wave a short but significant farewell to Steve Jelley as he jets off on a week-long UK Trade and Investment mission to Silicon Valley. This is a coup for us: Videojuicer was one of a handful of companies selected by industry specialists for the Digital Mission, which runs from 11 – 16 October. Promoted and tended by the digital industry community Chinwag, the mission visits LA and San Francisco, meeting industry contacts, gatecrashing networking events, and strutting their stuff before the likes of Warner Bros, Sony Home Entertainment and Facebook.

Steve and his new friends (and some old friends – Mark Rock of Audioboo is going along) will also attend some ‘digital receptions’ at British Consulates. ‘Digital Mission companies are encouraged to participate in the local digital scene,’ says Chinwag’s website, lest we missed the point.
